How it goes

What actually happens

You meet me in front of the Arena and we walk. About two hours later you know how a Roman colony became an Austro-Hungarian naval port, then a shipyard town, then whatever Pula is now. You'll also have seen a public toilet the Austrians built, which is on the route for a reason.

No flag, no headsets, no group of forty. Some days there are four of you, some days a dozen. Either way you can interrupt me whenever you like, and most people do.

I've been guiding in Pula for eight years. I worked in media before that, which turns out to help: holding a group's attention is about half the job, and knowing the dates is the other half.

What people said afterwards

There were only 4 of us in the tour. Mihael is very knowledgeable and didactic. The tour took almost 2 hours and time flew! I'd definitely recommend him if you want to know all about Pula.

Very good walking tour! Pula has a lot of different histories and Mihael did a great job of showing us different architecture and sights from across the various eras. This was a good balance of walking and talking, lasting 2 hours. It ended at a park hosting a wine festival, which I highly recommend. Mihael also shared recommendations for food and beaches afterward, very helpful.
