About

One guide, one city, eight years

Epik Tours is me, Mihael. There's no office and no team behind it. If you book, I'm the one who shows up.

How I got here

I've been guiding in Pula for eight years. Before that I worked in media and communication, which sounds unrelated right up until you're standing in front of fifteen people in direct sun trying to make the third century interesting. Holding a group's attention is about half the job. Knowing the dates is the other half.

No script

I know the route and I know the history, but which parts we spend time on depends on who turns up and what they ask. If you're here for the architecture, we'll do the architecture. If you'd rather hear about the Vergarolla explosion and what it did to this city, we can do that instead.

I live here

That's the part that can't really be faked. I know which konoba is worth the walk and which one has a nice terrace and nothing else, and you'll get both answers at the end if you want them.

What's different about it

  • Small groups. Four people some days, a dozen on others. Never forty.
  • No entrance tickets and nothing to buy along the way.
  • It runs in the rain. There's no bad weather, only the wrong jacket.
  • You pay at the end, in cash, whatever you thought it was worth.
  • English only, for now.

Averaged over 16 reviews. Entertainment is the lowest of the five and that's fair enough. I'd rather explain something properly than perform it.
